We've previously charter a lot out of the Western Isles and travelling to the West Coast of Scotland is an adventure in itself. It is a great opportunity to spend time thinking about what lies ahead or talking over the adventure you have just shared. Obviously your travel plans will be determined by where you are coming from but here are some ideas for getting to and from the vessel; if using public transport it is well worth booking in advance for the best fares.

 

By Sleeper Train to Scotland. The Caledonian sleeper service runs six days a week (not Saturday nights) fromLondon Euston to Fort William and stops at Watford Junction, Crewe and Preston.You share a two-man compartment, travel through the night and arrive at ten in themorning; cost for an adult starts at around £150 return.http://www.scotrail.co.uk/caledoniansleeper/index.html .

 

By Daytime Rail to Scotland Take the train from whichever main station makes sense for you to Glasgow, then onthrough the Highlands to Oban. www.thetrainline.comBy AirYou can fly to Glasgow from all main British airports: there are 8 trains an hour toGlasgow Central Station and from there the train to Oban is your best option. By Road to Scotland. The road journey is a great experience, especially once you get beyond Glasgow and into the Highlands but make sure you allow time to rest; it is a long drive for one person.

 

Oban is a great place, a real hub of trains, buses and ferries to all the HebrideanIslands. It is an old fishing port with a harbour sheltered by the island of Kerrera so ifyour travel arrangements mean you have time there you will find plenty to do andsee. If you need to stay a night there is lots of accommodation of all kinds
